Beverly Jean Loutzenhiser Wincek

Jan. 4, 1924 - Jun. 5, 2017

SOUTH BEND - Beverly Jean Wincek, 93, of South Bend, died Monday, June 5th, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Wincek was born January 4, 1924, in Garrett, IN, to the late Bessie (Gillespie) and Russell Loutzenhiser, and had lived in South Bend since 1937.

On March 7, 1942, in Michigan City, she married John Wincek, who preceded her in death in 1995. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara, in 1944, and siblings, Janice Fields, Phyllis Burkett, Mona Lou Eaton, Russell Loutzenhiser, and Richard Loutzenhiser. Beverly is survived by her children, Sheila O'Dell (Gary) of Mishawaka, Peggy Flowers of South Bend, Nancy Shultz (Tom - deceased) of Mishawaka and Eric Wincek (Mary Lou) of South Bend; six grandchildren, Todd Wincek, Andy Wincek, Amy Rowell (Tom), Lee Ann Shaw (Frank), Randy Brewer (Tracy), and Aaron O'Dell (Tonya); 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Martin of Mishawaka; and brothers, Lynn Loutzenhiser (Patricia) of South Bend, and Jack Loutzenhiser (Ellen) of Mishawaka.

Beverly retired from the Food Service Department of the South Bend Community School Corporation after 20 years of service. In 1972 she converted to Catholicism and she and John celebrated and renewed their wedding vows of 35 years. They shared 53 years of marriage together. She was a longtime member of VFW 9820 Auxiliary and 101st Airborne Auxiliary. Beverly loved to eat and enjoy a good meal. She could be found quite often working in the yard and in her flower garden. What she loved the most, though, was being with her family.

Beverly was a very kind and humble person. The tears we shed are for our love of you and our thanksgiving for your life. Rest in peace mom.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 6 p.m. Friday, June 9th, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., where a parish Rosary and prayer service will be prayed at 5:30 p.m. Friday with Rev. Glenn Kohrman of Holy Family Catholic Church. Following the services, the family invites everyone to MR Falcons, 3212 Keller St., South Bend, to continue to celebrate Beverly's life. Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Highland Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Beverly's name may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Pl., Mishawaka, IN 46545. Family and friends may leave email condolences at www.welsheimer.com.
