Michael Paul Smeltzer, of Michigan, passed away suddenly Jan 16, 2012, while visiting his mother.

Michael proudly served his country in the US Navy.

Michael was the beloved son of Mildred Smeltzer-Price of Sugar Grove,IL and the late Paul Smeltzer; dear brother of Karen and David.

A private family service was held at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Drive, Sugar Grove, IL 60554. Burial with full military honors was in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.

 

SOUTH BEND - Paul Smeltzer, 72, of Naperville, Ill., formerly of South Bend, died March 10 in his home after an illness. Mr. Smeltzer was employed by Bendix Corp. until 1962; retired in 1986 from Maremont Corp., Carol Stream, Ill., as director of research; and was self-employed as a patent and trademark consultant by Arvin Corp. He was born Oct. 13, 1923, in Nappanee. He is survived by his wife, Mille Smeltzer of Naperville; a daughter, Karen Glowiak of Naperville; two sons, Michael of Montgomery, Ill., and David of Dallas; two granddaughters; his stepmother, Ann Smeltzer of South Bend; a sister, Mary Lou Korenstra of Syracuse; and a brother, Phil of South Bend. He was a graduate of Purdue University and a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Services were March 14 at Community United Methodist Church, Naperville. Burial was in Naperville Cemetery. Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, Naperville, handled arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to EHS Hospice, 1441 Branding Ave., Downers Grove, IL 60515.
