Thomas G. Hosey

 

Thomas G. Hosey, 67, residing in Three Rivers, Michigan, passed away at 3:50 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2007 in Elkhart General Hospital, Elkhart, IN, following an illness. He was born December 19, 1939 in South Bend, as the son of Charles R. & Helen Ruth (Cromey) Hosey-Thomas and has lived in the Three Rivers area since 1998. Tom was preceded in death by his father Charles in May 1950, and his mother Helen Ruth Hosey-Thomas on December 26, 2006.


He graduated from John Adams High School, South Bend, and Tri-State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He retired as a division manager of Eastern Pennsylvania with GTE in 1993 following more than 30 years of faithful service. Then on June 30, 1990 in Las Vegas, NV, he married Patricia L. Burkus who survives.

He is also survived by three daughters, Kelly (Bob) Stagg of Simpson, IL, Debra (Joe) Gatton of Golden, CO, Carmen (Jeff) Romack of Westfield, IN, and a son, Steven Hosey of San Francisco, CA. Also surviving Tom are his three beautiful grandchildren, Jordan Stagg, and Jacob & Alex Romack. A brother, Charles (Carolyn) Hosey of Tempe, AZ survives him as well.

Mr. Hosey was a member of Maumee Lodge #725, F & AM, Mizpah Shrine, and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne, also the Olive Club and Elks Lodge both of Fort Wayne, and American Legion Post #0253 North Webster, IN, and the Three Rivers Cotollion Club.

Tom was much loved by his family, friends and neighbors for his lighthearted sense of humor and his appreciation for lifes simple pleasures. Tom truly enjoyed his retirement on Corey Lake, where he spent his time boating, jet skiing, fishing, kayaking, and relaxing with his best buddy (cat) Rocky, and playing with his three grandsons. Tom & Patti enjoyed dancing at the Three Rivers Cotollion Club, traveling, and visiting family and friends. Some of their favorite destinations included Destin, FL, Tempe, AZ, Westfield, IN, and Simpson, IL.

Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 15, at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery, South Bend. The family will receive guests from 2:00 -5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 14, where members of St. Joseph Lodge # 45 F & AM will conduct a Masonic memorial service at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Visitation will also occur one hour prior to services Monday.
