Peter Chapin Trescott

Peter Chapin Trescott, 44, of Reston, Va., formerly of South Bend, died early Friday in his home, after a lengthy illness with cancer. He was employed with the U.S. Geological Survey as a research hydrologist.

Mr. Trescott was born Dec. 12, 1939, in Evanston, Ill., and moved to South Bend in 1943, residing here until 1963.

In South Bend in 1963, he married Patricia Scott, who survives along with two daughters, Tanya and Robin, both at home; a son, Scott, at home; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Murray C. Trescott of Mishawaka.

Mr. Trescott was a 1958 graduate of John Adams High School, a 1962 graduate of Williams College, Williamstown, Mass., and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in 1967. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma XI professional society, and the United Christian Church in Reston.

Private memorial services will be held Tuesday at the United Christian Church in Reston, Va. The Green Funeral Home, Reston, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Reed Organ Memorial Fund of South Lakes Branch United Christian Parish, 2222 Colts Neck Road, Reston, Va. 22901; the American Cancer Society; or to Hospice of Northern Virginia, 4715 N. 15th St., Arlington, Va. 22204.
