Alice Lorraine (Barry) Neal Preissing

Alice Lorraine Neal Preissing, 87, of South Bend passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024. Alice was born in South Bend on February 11, 1936, to the late Eugene and Delight (Morrow) Barry. On June 19, 1999, she married George D. Preissing who survives. She is survived by her children, Kristine (Tom) Goerke, Kathleen (Christopher) Hess, William Neal, James (Rhonda) Neal, Nancy (Paul) Leyes; 7 grandchildren, Sean (Lisa) Waite, Maureen (Doug) Kapica, Brianne Adachi, Jamie (Kenny) Kirleis, Debbie Neal, Brennan Neal and Collin Neal; 9 great grandchildren, Samuel Waite, David Waite, Noah Waite, Mina Adachi, Asher Adachi, Cole Adachi, Grace Kapica, Lucas Kapica and Louie Kirleis.

Alice worked at the University of Notre Dame for 10 years until her retirement. She managed the 1st girls’ softball team in South Bend in 1972. She was a Camp Fire Leader as well as a Den Mother and was a awarded the St. Ann Medal that is given to select leaders. She taught gym at Holy Cross for 1 year.

Alice was known for her chocolate chip cookies and homemade pizza. She would send the cookies all over but you had to return to tins.

The family will receive friends from 12 pm-4 pm on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka with services to follow at 4 pm. Alice will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN.
