Sharon Lee Petrou
Feb. 3, 1936 – Nov. 15, 1987
Sharon Lee Petrou, 51, of Ogden Dunes, formerly of South Bend, died at 2:15 a.m. Thursday at Mercy Hospital, Hobart, Ind. after an illness.
Mrs. Petrou was a physical education teacher for Portage Community Schools, formerly taught at Aylesworth and Central elementary schools and was active as a soccer coach and player in Ogden Dunes.
She was born Feb. 3, 1936, in South Bend, and had lived in Ogden Dunes the past 20 years. On July 30, 1961, in South Bend, she married John D. Petrou, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Victoria J. at home; three sons, Dimitrios J. at home, Thomas J. of Tampa, Fla., and Andrew J. with the U.S. Navy; a sister, Joyce Anderson of Valparaiso; a brother, Jack Beebe of Granger; and a stepbrother, Clifford Watkins.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St Andrew Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., where a Trisagion service will be conducted at 6 p.m.
She was a member of the church, Saints Constantina and Helena Cathedral, Merrillville, Ind., and Ogden Dunes Park Board.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrews Greek Orthodox Church.
