Ladean Bea Byam

Feb. 22, 1936 - Jun. 24, 2005

Ladean Byam, 69, of Mishawaka, Ind., and Tarpon Springs Fla., passed away after an extended illness at 8:50 a.m. Friday, June 24, in Hospice House, South Bend, with the love of the family surrounding her.

She was born February 22, 1936, to the late Geraldean (Kiley) Williamson. She also was the stepdaughter of the late William Williamson. In June 1954 she married Lynn P. Byam. They just celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary June 12th of this year. She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Christie A (Jeffery) Janowski of Osceola, Connie L. Richmond of South Bend; one son, Kenneth C. Byam of Ravenna, Ohio. She had six grandchildren, Corrine Taylor, Melissa and Cortney Hollister, Robert Grenert, Danny and Kenneth Jr. Byam; and five great-grandchildren, who knew her as "Grandma Mickey," Karlee, Gaven and Immanuel Taylor, Jamison M. Hollister and Cassie Byam. She took great pride in her grandchildren.

Ladean graduated from John Adam's High School and had been a member of many clubs with her husband. She also gave generously to many charitable organizations. She maintained many friendships in South Bend, Tarpon Springs and from Camp Wildwood in Edwardsburg, Mich. She was also a member of the bowling team called the Curfew League to which she had made long and wonderful friendships for many years. Being ill and in Florida, her last wish was to be home closer to family and friends, and with the help of family and others it became possible.

Mom, we will miss you greatly every day and remember your tremendous spirit, and all the great and wonderful things you did to help us out. You are a kind and very loving wife, mother and grandmother, and most of all, best friend. You don't have to create everything alone. Life is not an individual sport, and to live life fully you must participate. Often this involves interacting with many friends and family. This is an exercise in confidence and love, and that is what you taught us. Love you.

Visitation will be in the Bubb Funeral Chapel on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will take place at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 No. Main St., Mishawaka, with Rev. Ed Villalba officiating. Burial will take place at Galien Cemetery, Michigan.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; to the American Cancer Society; to the Indianapolis School for the Blind (granddaughter attended); and to Chiera House.
