SOUTH BEND - Catherine (Grady) Greene, formerly of South Bend, Indiana was born to the union of Lula and Governor Grady, Sr. She was the youngest girl of nine children.
Catherine graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend, IN in 1954. She moved to Chicago, IL in 1956, where she began her career with The Illinois Central Gulf Rail Company. She met and married Frank W. Greene in 1970. To this union two children were born.
Catherine was an active young lady. She was very competitive in sports, finding a love for softball that continued until she was 71. Catherine enjoyed bowling, volleyball and dominos. She was also an ardent reader, enjoying countless good books in her spare time.
Catherine was a devoted mother and grandmother, enjoying the company of friends and family as often as possible. In 1999, she and her husband retired and relocated to Summerfield, FL where they lived out the rest of their lives.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Erik (Turquoise) Greene; daughter, Kristie Greene; brothers, Spencer (Lillie) Grady and Barry (Mable) Grady of South Bend, IN, and Governor (Geraldine) Grady Jr. Of Overland, KS; and sisters, Doris Grady of Ocala, FL and Norma Weaver of Mishawaka. Also left to cherish her memory are her beloved grandchildren, Erik Jr., Zachary, and Xavier. Her loving husband, Frank, preceded her in death in 2009.
Memorial Service was held September 20, 2013 in Matteson, Illinois.
