KIMBERLY (BAKER) STAGGERS

Kimberly S. Staggers July 2, 1963 - Nov. 4, 2014 MISHAWAKA - Kimberly S. Baker-Staggers, 51, was called from labor to reward on November 4, 2014 at 10:30 p.m. Mrs. Staggers was set free from her long-term illness which caused her to carry an oxygen tank. One Sunday, Kim declared that "She would be free from her oxygen tank, and no matter what she went through she was healed". Kim accepted salvation at the age of 14 and was a firm believer in Jesus Christ.

Mrs. Staggers was born on July 2, 1963 to the union of Robert Baker Sr. and Amy (Shorter) Baker.

She attended Perley Elementary School, Jefferson Middle School, and graduated from John Adams High School, class of 1981. She later received a Bachelor's Degree from Indiana University South Bend in the spring of 2001.

On June 27, 1987 she married the love of her life Pastor Ronald L. Staggers Sr. whom she often referred to as her "Denzel." From this union she often stated that she gave birth to two beautiful children: Ronald Jr. "Andre" and Kyrstin "MeMe" Staggers.

Former employers include: NIPSCO and AEP.

Mrs. Staggers had a love for kids which she took great pride in. She fostered and encouraged many youth in church, daycare ministry, after-school programs and the community at large. Together Mr. and Mrs. Staggers strived to make a difference with the youth of our community. When her husband was called to minister as a Pastor, she stuck by his side and did whatever she could to help. She also took great pride in her church, Greater New Harvest Outreach Ministries, which she worked hard to build up and help her husband. In 2013 she was successful at getting the word "finna" in the Webster's Dictionary.

Survivors left to cherish her memory include her husband, Pastor Ronald L. Staggers Sr.; children and parents; her "favorite" brother, Robert (Betty) Baker Jr., of South Bend, Indiana; two sisters, Rhonda Baker of Silver Springs, Maryland and Elaine Baker of Alpharetta, Georgia; her daughter-in-law which she referred to as her other daughter, Darlyssa Staggers; aunts, Mary Alice Hyde of South Bend, Doris Davis of Chicago, Illinois, Elvelyn (Ambros) Gardener of Aberdeen, Mississippi, Maybertha Blue of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Elnora Thompson of Chicago, Dorothy Renfore of Memphis, Tennessee; uncles, Willie Lee Shorter of Chicago, Willie L.P. (Isabell) Shorter of Milwaukee, Sam (Gertrude) Shorter of Chicago, Nathan (Mattie) Shorter of Milwaukee; one grandson, "her baby" Cameron Murdock; one step-son, Marcell Strong; three sisters-in-law, Helen Thomas of South Bend, Jean Akin of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lady B. Staggers of Marion, Arkansas; one brother-in-law, Charles (Mae) Staggers of South Bend; her godchildren, Amanda Baker, Byron, EJ, Jasmine, Brittany Baker, Jasmine, Jeleasa, David Wood, Quintin Walker, Darius Witherspoon, and Chyla, Jaylen Madison; one god-sister, Darnisha Clark-Owens. She also leaves her extended family, Sam and Clara Austin Jr. family, Robert and Marsha Gammage Jr. family, Ruvader "Mama Hall" Hall and family, Hopson and Peete family; and a host aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, many cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Adam (Fannie) Shorter, Maybell Townsend-Little; paternal grandparents, Arthur and Christine Lawrence; one nephew, Jermaine Baker; and one god brother, Michael Clark.

A service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1862 N. Olive Street South Bend, IN. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and funeral service at 12:00 Noon. with Pastor Ray E. Owens, officiating. Burial will take place a Highland Cemetery. Sign her guestbook at www.clarkoneal.com.
