Kirk Anthony Ruff Sr.

Sept. 7, 1957 - April 19, 2002

Kirk Anthony Ruff Sr., 44, residing on South 23rd Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 1:38 a.m. Friday, April 19, in Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Kirk was born Sept. 7, 1957, in South Bend, as the son of Patrick N. and Carol E. (Hass) Ruff, and had remained a lifelong resident of South Bend. He graduated from John Adams High School, attended Indiana Vocational Technical College, and was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church.

On Feb. 17, 1991, in South Bend, he married Mary E. Sack, who preceded him in death on Aug. 29, 1994. Kirk is survived by his loving parents, Patrick and Carol Ruff; two sons, Kirk A. Ruff Jr. and Jeremy Ruff, both of South Bend; a sister, Lisa (Brian) Bishop of South Bend; and by two brothers, John Ruff of Littleton, Colo., and Patrick (Angie) Ruff of Mishawaka, Ind.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 2320 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend. Rev. Richard Laurick, CSC, will officiate, assisted by Rev. William D. Niedhart, CSC, and Rev. Charles J. Lavely, CSC. The family will receive guests at the church one-half hour prior to the service on Friday. Kirk has requested that all contributions in his memory be made to the Center for the Homeless, 813 South Michigan Street, South Bend, IN; or to abused children. Arrangements for the Ruff family are being made by the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend.
