Suzanne Freitag

SUZANNE B. FREITAG

Suzanne Freitag July 24, 1977 - Apr. 4, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Suzanne Beth Freitag passed away with her loved ones at her side on Friday morning, April 4, 2014, after a brave fight with colon cancer. She was born in Memorial Hospital in South Bend and has lived in the area all her life.

Suzanne is survived by her parents, Mary Sue and Ron, her big brother, Christopher, and many cousins in Indiana, California, and Florida.

She graduated from John Adams High School and Indiana University at Bloomington with a degree in Art Education. Mentored by principal, John Arnett, Suzanne taught at the LaPorte South Central High School where she started an Art Club and helped the ceramics activities flourish. Suzanne's current assignment was at the Mishawaka School City elementary schools teaching Art at Hums, Battell, Beiger and LaSalle. There are thousands of elementary children who were introduced to ROY G. BIV, the acronym to help children remember that the conventional colors of the rainbow are: RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, INDIGO and VIOLET.

Suzanne loved teaching Art to her students and seeing their interests come to life and class museum trips were a delightful time for all. Some of her favorite were sketching, potter's wheel time, and ceramic art works, often accompanied by Allman brothers music for inspiration.

Special thanks for the time, love and devotion of her dear friends, Shannon, Sara, and Erin who made Suzanne's life so much better this last year. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545, or charity of the donor's choice.

Also, consider volunteering at your local school Art program. Time you spend there will benefit your life. The world is a better place because of Suzanne. Her family, friends and colleagues will greatly miss her but celebrate her life every day.

Visitation will be at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, on Sunday, April 7, 2014 from 2-6 pm and one hour prior to Memorial services at 11am Monday, April 8th at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 Ironwood (between Douglas and Bulla) South Bend followed by luncheon with the family at the Parrish Center. Messages to the family can be directed to www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
