JoAnn Carol Baumgartner, 68, passed away Friday, April 7, 2023.    She was born on June 24, 1954, to Rev. Paul E. and Donnabell J (Pape) Baumgartner she was a lifelong resident of the area.

JoAnn is survived by her mother, Donnabell, whom she cared for. JoAnn is also survived by her children Chelsea (Chris) Wilson of Edwardsburg, Michigan, Melissa (Jesus) Quimby  of South Bend, Indiana, Thomas Quimby of Cassopolis, Michigan, Azure (Ian) Richards  of South Bend, Indiana, Patrick (Kathleen) Baumgartner of South Bend; 12 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter. As well as siblings  Sharon (Jim) Reimann of New Buffalo, Michigan, Judy Kuspa and Linda Baumgartner both of South Bend,; and her brother, Paul "Tom" (Tina) Baumgartner of Ortonville, Michigan and by many nieces and nephews.

JoAnn was a very strong-willed, creative, artistic woman. She enjoyed reading, gardening, drawing, cooking, and sewing. She graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend.  Later in life, she studied nursing at Ivy Tech and phlebotomy at Southwestern Michigan College.  JoAnn was proud of raising five children on her own and never let anyone tell her what to do. She was a creative free spirit who lived the life she wanted to.  She was not afraid to say what was on her mind.  She was very quick-witted with a good sense of humor and an unforgettable laugh. She may not have always been  agreed with, but she was always loved. 

Services for JoAnn will be held at 12:00pm, Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Rd., South Bend, IN 46635 with visitation one hour prior.
