Feb. 14, 1955 - June 1, 2011

 Valerie Nielsen, 56, of Walkerton, beloved wife and mother, was wrapped in the loving arms of God and taken from this world on Wednesday, June 1st, 2011. Val is survived by her husband, Peter Nielsen of Walkerton; a daughter, Fay (Matthew) Flournoy of South Bend; two sisters, Cyndi (John) Bower of Mishawaka and Dawn (Pat) Trimboli of South Bend. Val was a dog lover, and she will be missed by her four-legged family: Max, Buddy, Baby, Emma, Izzy and Jake. Her time with us was much too short, but we will always remember her smile, laugh, and unending devotion and support of her family. Val was a lover of nature and small animals. She spent her final days in Hospice House being watched over by a momma Dove sitting on her nest and a doe with her fawn grazing in the creek. Val was also a lover of unique and antique jewelry. Many conversations were started and carried concerning some of the amazing and interesting pieces of jewelry she wore. Though our hearts are heavy and we do not always understand God's ways, we accept that this is his way and that He has plans for her. John 14:1-4 Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going. There will be no visitation or service. In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial donations in her name be made to The Center for Hospice, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. The people of Hospice House made her last days on Earth comfortable and peaceful. Welsheimer Family Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
