Stephen A. Dempsey, Sr

On April 28, 2023 Stephen A. Dempsey, Sr., passed away unexpectedly in Lexington, Kentucky. Stephen and his wife Bonnie were traveling from their home in North Carolina to visit friends and family in South Bend. Stephen Anthony Dempsey , Sr., was born January 9, 1955 to Charles Sr., and Alberta (Grider) Dempsey in South Bend, Indiana.

Steve was a graduate of John Adams High School. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force, stationed in Omaha, Nebraska. He proudly served in the military and was honored with Declaration Medals for Air Force Good Conduct, Medal with one Oak Lead Cluster, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Non Commissioned Officer, Leadership School 1. Steve was discharged April 12, 2012 from the military, he continued to work and was given a prestigious job with the Pentagon in Virginia in the Security Clearance Department in Virginia.

Retiring in February, 2023, Steve and Bonnie lived in Cherry Hill, New Jersey for 27 years, later in 2022 they relocated to Hendersonville, North Carolina. They were able to enjoy and explore a life of leisure, traveling, hiking, laughing and loving each other more. Steve was an avid golfer, just recently he bought his dream set of golf clubs.

Steve always had a quick hug, kiss and smile for everyone, especially his loved ones. He like a good joke, his laughter lightening the mood for any one situation. He was an adventure seeker and he wanted to share his love of life with everyone around him.

Cherishing Steve's loving memories is his loving wife Bonnie (Thornton) Dempsey of 40 blissful years. Children; Christopher Hill of Bloomington, illinois, Stephen, Tony, (Sabrina) Dempsey, Jr., Erin Dempsey both of South Bend, Indiana. Sabrina (Steve Elliott) Dempsey of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Two brothers, Charles E. (Patricia) Dempsey, Jr., and Kenneth (Bev) Dempsey. Steve was very special to his two grandchildren who call him "Pops", Mark Hill and Jordan Dempsey

Those who preceded him in death are his parents, Charles and Alberta Dempsey, two sisters Phyllis Fields and Juanita Dempsey.

Steve will be dearly missed by many cousins, nieces, aunts, uncles and friends.
