Bradley Kinnon Hall

Bradley Kinnon Hall, 68 years old, passed away at 1:06 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2023 at his home with his family by his side. Brad was born on October 7, 1954 in South Bend to the late Waldo J. and Laura E. (Geisinger) Hall. He has remained a lifelong resident. On August 27, 1977 in South Bend, Brad and Carole Claeys were united in marriage at St. Hedwig Church.

Along with Carole, his loving wife of 45 years, Brad is survived by two of their three children, Alan (Caitlin) Hall of Rancho Cucamonga, CA and Katherine (Adam) Brown of Westfield, IN; two grandchildren, Landon Bradley Hall and Beckett R. Brown; brother, Thomas J. (Janet) Hall of Granger; and sisters-in-law, Pam (Dan Kane) Claeys, Judy Gondocs, and Ruth Claeys, all of South Bend. Along with his parents, Brad was preceded in death by his infant son, Bradley Gordon Hall; and his brother, Michael J. Hall, who passed away while serving his country in Vietnam.

Brad was a two-sport athlete at South Bend Adams where he excelled at baseball and football. He loved all sports and coached his kids’ sporting teams. He was a die-hard Chicago Bears, I.U. Basketball, and N.D. Football fan. Brad also enjoyed managing his fantasy football team, Eagles^2, with some of his best friends. While working in the kitchen at St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend, Brad met his future wife, Carole, which started their long love journey. After graduating from high school in 1972, he earned a degree in Biology with a minor in Education. This past summer, Brad and Carole celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary with a gathering of family and friends at the reception hall where they were first married. Most of their adult life was spent on the South Side of South Bend.

Brad loved to teach, learn and care for others. Brad spent most of his career in the insurance industry. Later in his career, he excelled as a teacher for local private and public schools, something he studied at Indiana University and later Ball State University. In 2016, Brad retired and spent his time close to family and friends. Brad could be seen “around town” dropping his children at school daily or attending Masses at St. Stephens or St. Matthew Cathedral on weekends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami Street, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 11:00 a.m. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family.

Carole would like to thank Brad’s personal caregivers: her sisters Pam and Judy; and her wonderful friend Marilynn; as well as, Kim, for their care and love. Brad’s neurologist at the University of Chicago, Dr. James Mastrianni, who made the correct diagnosis of PSP was invaluable to Brad and his family. Brad’s urologist from Northwestern, Dr. Stephanie Kielb, also provided excellent treatment. Dr. Santiago Toledo at Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in Chicago was critical for extending Brad’s mobility. Carole would also like to thank VNA and the skilled services of Sarah, Patrick, Kelli and nurse, Sarah. The Center for Hospice nurses Liz and Angela were also wonderful.
