Douglas D. Wagley

Jan. 28, 1955 - Oct. 18, 2004

Surrounded by the family he loved, Douglas D. Wagley, 49, of East Wolfe Bridge Drive, Granger, Ind., passed way after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Monday, Oct. 18, at 1:30 a.m. in Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Jan. 28, 1955, in South Bend, Ind., to Billie and Marilyn (Macht) Wagley of South Bend. On Nov. 6, 1999, in South Bend, Doug married Kim Erskin-Goodman. Together they shared a love that knew no bounds.

Surviving Douglas is his wife, Kimberley; parents, Billie and Marilyn Wagley; daughters, Carol and Tim McNeely of Elkhart, Ind., Amy and Tim Daffron of Granger, and Kristin Goodman and Mike Kromer of Niles, Mich.; a son, Justin and Jessica Goodman of South Bend; grandchildren, Morgan McNeely, Collin McNeely, Caden Daffron and Cayden Kromer; and a grandchild, due in April; a sister, LeAnn and Ron Como of Granger; a brother, Dave and Carri Wagley of Edwardsburg, Mich.; his father-in-law, Ed and Glenda Erskin of South Bend; a great-grandmother-in-law, Louise Mick of South Bend; three nephews, Ronnie Como, Christopher Como and Ryan Wagley; two nieces, Megan Curtis and Kaitlyn Wagley; and a great-niece, Sophia Curtis.

Doug was many things to many people. It was important to him to be a good role model. However, Doug was most proud and happiest being a dad and papa.

Being a Harley Davidson enthusiast, he enjoyed his Road King classic. Other hobbies include hunting and fishing. He had a love for his dogs, Harley and Bear.

As a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #172, he was employed by Herman & Goetz as a mechanical estimator for 18 years. He was raised at and a longtime member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ. He was an active member and co-chairman of the expansion committee at the Northway Church of Christ.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 21, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, in St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 915 N. Ironwood, South Bend, with visitation one hour prior to services in the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
