Jennifer Ann Nelsen-Camp, of Powhatan, VA passed early Friday morning February 2, 2024 after her second battle with cancer. Jennie was born February 18, 1955 to Theresa (Baldoni) Duxbury and James Duxbury in South Bend, IN. She is survived by her husband Del Camp, three children - Jon (and partner Kendra), Adam, and Kacie, step children - Jeff, and Becky (and partner Ryan), siblings - Cathe, Sandy, Bill, and Ken, and a host of loving friends/relatives. She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren who she loved dearly, Cohen, Wyatt, and Trevor. 

Jennie lived a life of service and creativity. Her talents knew no limits. She was an accomplished seamstress, banner maker, watercolorist, woodworker, pastry chef, cake artist, and furniture revitalizer. She always had a creative side hustle going and bewildering energy to apply to it. 

When she wasn't blowing people away with her many talents, she loved combing the beaches of Nags Head in search of tiny treasures, walking the dogs, birdwatching, doting on her grandkids, and making people feel special with thoughtful handmade gifts and sweet treats. 

She had an insatiable sweet tooth and a fantastic sense of humor - perfectly epitomized by her love of candy cigarettes. If you were to ask 10 people their favorite desserts she made, you'd get 10 different answers. If you were to ask her, she'd say she loved Swiss Miss hot cocoa and Hershey Bars. 

She followed VA Tech football later in life and one of her happiest memories was attending her first VA Tech tailgate/game with Jon and Kacie. She was in charge of food, naturally. Jennie loved Halloween and made dozens of costumes over the years for herself and loved ones - one of which earned her 1st prize and a trip to Nags Head. She won many contests, sweepstakes, and radio giveaways over the years. She was a genuinely lucky person that had an uncanny ability to find four leaf clovers. You might have been given one, pressed and framed.

Her love of animals knew no bounds. The strays that came into her life that became lifelong companions were many. The critters she came across in need that went uncared for were few. Her pets were at her bedside in her final weeks. She was like a Disney princess in that way, but would scoff at the observation because, "The Mouse never had any strong moms in the movies."

She'll be remembered by the thousands who adored her bakery, VIP Desserts, operating out of Flat Rock shopping center for 10 years. She'll be remembered by her hundreds of real estate clients and colleagues for her unwavering service, honesty, and integrity. She'll be remembered by the many nurses on her cardiac unit, and hospice caretakers who received her hand sewn mittens. And she'll be remembered by her loving spouse, family, and friends. 

A memorial and celebration of her life will take place at Bennett & Barden 3215 Anderson Hwy, Powhatan, VA Saturday, February 17th 2024 from 2:00 - 4:00. In lieu of flowers, she requests donations to the SPCA of Richmond - https://richmondspca.org/
