WALTON, Anthony Anthony Scott Walton, also known as A. Scott Walton, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016 at the age of 51 in Atlanta, Georgia, where he spent most of his adult life. He was born March 8, 1965 in South Bend, Indiana. Scott, as he was most fondly called, was a well-known and respected journalist. Scott graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1987 and was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. During college, he was a Sports Intern for the Nashville Tennessean.
 
In 1987, after graduating from Vanderbilt, he joined the Detroit Free Press as a Sports Statistician/Writer and Columnist. Scott later became a Fashion and Features Columnist for the Detroit Free Press. It was from this role that he found his passion and would ultimately be recognized as a Fashion and Lifestyle "Guru". In 1993, Scott joined The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and held a variety of positions that include Fashion and Features Reporter, Writer/Editor for the Daily Peach-Buzz, Olympic Boxing Reporter, Features/Nightlife Columnist, Fashion Editor/ Lifestyle Columnist and Online Sports/Arts/Entertainment Producer. You may have also heard or seen Scott as a guest on Q-100 radio-The Bert Show, CNN Fashion segments, TBS's "Movie and a Makeover" or attending a New York or European Fashion Week event. Following Scott's 15 years career with the AJC, he worked with several major and local print and digital newspapers and magazines as a freelance writer.
 
Scott also had his own blog, eyeseestyle.blogspot.com and was involved with the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists. Scott was admired, loved and respected by many. He was the "cool," fashion guy with the big smile". He had a passion for music, especially jazz; college football mostly Notre Dame's Fighting Irish; cooking and gardening. Scott also enjoyed golfing. However, as he would often say, "I suck at it".
 
Scott is survived by his beloved son Anthony Scott Walton II (Scottie), Judith Walton (mother), Cullen Walton (Father), Traci Walton (sister), Elry Pacheco (nephew). Scott is also survived by Tangela Walton (loving mother of his son), Pastor Carolyn Gooden (aunt), Rosalind Ellis (aunt), Roland Ellis Sr. (uncle), Richard Ellis (uncle), Curtis Walton (uncle) and many wonderful cousins. Scott's service will be held Saturday, July 16 at 10a.m. at Living Water Church, 1922 Milburn Blvd. Mishawaka, IN. 46545. A viewing will be held at the church, prior to service from 9am-10am. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Alford's Mortuary located at 1222 Napier St, South Bend, IN. 46601.
