Joshua Ditsch

Joshua David Ditsch

November 18, 1975 ~ August 18, 2023 (age 47)

It is with a heavy heart and a mourning soul that we share the loss of an amazing father, husband, son, brother and friend, Joshua David Ditsch born Nov. 18th 1975, in South Bend, he was suddenly taken from us this last week. Josh was born to Terry (Beverly) Ditsch, and Diane (Robert) Black.

He was always happiest when he was bringing a smile to someone’s face or serving others. As he did when he sat on the committee for Waterdaze where he was proudly a member of the Delta Kappa Chapter of the Theta Chi Fraternity at Ball State University. Josh graduated with a Degree in Telecommunications and settled down in South Bend where he met and married his beautiful wife Tamatha (Tammy) Ditsch in 2005, they made a wonderful and welcoming home with their children Montana Hickman, Robert (Kayla) Hickman, along with Beverly and Dakota Ditsch and grandchildren (Brandon, Zachariah, Joshua, and Kimberly Hickman).

Anyone could stop and join him in watching his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish (just don’t call while the game is on!). He was a master of the karaoke night and could always be found singing whatever his heart felt that night, whether he was serenading his wife with songs from George Strait, singing a ballad from Dr. Hook about being on the Cover of the Rolling Stone, or anything in between. Josh was always the man you could count on to brighten the room and make you happy to be there.

There are a thousand stories of his generosity and loving humor. But none of him putting others before himself or being unwilling to help someone in need. He loved the time he had with his older brother Michael (Connie) Ditsch playing Euchre at family get togethers, where he could often be heard yelling that you should order up the opponent’s bower to stop the loner! Or challenging his little sister, Liddy (Matthew) Buwa to any competition she thought she could beat him in.  Often to still come up short. His friends will always remember Josh for being quick to share a drink or an inappropriate joke.

Josh lived by the modified mantra of God, Country, Notre Dame, Family. And often the last 3 were interchangeable. He had a passion for football whether he was watching it, playing it, or watching and coaching Dakota play it. Saint Joseph High School didn't have a louder fan or more passionate advocate than Josh on Friday nights.

Visitation will be from 12noon till 2pm and 5pm till 8pm on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, in Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel 2702 Lincolnway West, South Bend, IN 46628.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Thursday, August 24, 2023, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 3526 St. Johns Way, South Bend, IN 46628. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.
