John P. McCaffery, 87, of North Liberty, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and two daughters following an extended illness.

John was born in Mishawaka on May 22nd, 1935. He is the son of the late Clarence, Helen (Klingerberg) McCaffery and Regina (Michalak) McCaffery. John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Charlotte (Mulvaney) McCaffery, their daughters: Kathleen D. (Jeff) Wolff of Walkerton and Susan M. Zoeller of Indianapolis; their amazing grandchildren: Patrick (Korissa) Wolff, Matthew Wolff, McCaffery Zoeller, Isabelle Zoeller, and Michael Zoeller; his sister, Bonnie Kohne; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Ostby. He also leaves behind many close friends who he considered family.

John graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend. A lifelong resident of the Michiana area, John began his career at McCaffery Company, where he worked for many years. John later retired from Englewood Electric in LaPorte. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corp. Reserves. John was an avid dog lover. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, golfing, bowling, and cheering for his favorite team, the Chicago Cubs. Most of all, John loved spending time with his family and grandkids. John and Charlotte were members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in South Bend for many, many years. Visitation for John will be on Tuesday, July 12th, 2022, at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home "Southwest Chapel" located at 23421 State Road 23, South Bend from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. John and Charlotte are members at St. Patrick's Catholic Church however, The Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church on July 13th, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. located at 315 South Scott Street, South Bend. Officiating will be Fr. Cyril Fernandes. Burial to follow at Eastlawn Cemetery in North Liberty, IN.
