Charles Eric Nordin

Charles Eric Nordin, 88 years old of Edwardsburg, passed to his rest Dec. 8, 2022 at Hubbard Hills of Elkhart after a brief illness. He was born Oct. 10, 1934 in South Bend, the son of Alfred Nordin and Anna (Olson) Canfield and has lived in the Michiana area all of his life. He entered the US Army, serving from 1957-1963, being a radioman. He retired from Uniroyal in Mishawaka, IN after 37 years of service working as a Chief Inspector of the Fuel Cell Division.

Chuck was married Aug 6, 1960 in South Bend to Kathryn Bechtel Nordin, who was a nurse at the South Bend Clinic. Kay passed on June 14, 2008 and they are survived by two children, Karen (Kevin) Smith of Edwardsburg and Chuck (Jenny) Nordin of Fremont, IN. There are four grandchildren, Maggie Smith, Lilly Smith, Katie (Brandon) Stiening and Karen Nordin. Family who preceded Chuck in passing, is his beloved wife Kay, his parents and a brother, Robert Nordin.

In retirement Chuck enjoyed snowmobiling, traveling with his wife, following Notre Dame sports and spending time on Garver Lake with his grandkids.

Family and friends may gather on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home 26863 West Main Street, Edwardsburg. The Service of Remembrance will begin at 12:00 Noon with Father Ron Raab of Notre Dame, a former neighbor, officiating. Interment will be at the gravesite in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, where he will be beside his wife, Kay. There will be Military Rites conducted by the United States Army Honor Guard, assisted by the Edwardsburg American Legion/VFW, doing a 21 gun-salute.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to contribute may make donations to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.

Arrangements are by the Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg.
