Nancy Carliene Tyler (Dudkowski)

Nancy Carliene Dudkowski

Feb. 17, 1935 - May 7, 2016

Nancy Carliene Dudkowski passed peacefully May 7th 2016. 81 years old, she was born February 17th 1935 to Robert

Eugene and Lilian Beatrice Tyler. Nancy married Fred Frank Dudkowski on June 15, 1956 and made their home in South Bend with their son, Richard. She retired in 1997 from The South Bend Community School Corporation after 44 years of service. Unheard of today, she had this one job from the end of her schooling till retirement!

In retirement she made caring for her family, friends and neighbors her priority. She was always reminding someone to "wear a hat "or asking "where are your boots?" She enjoyed a good garage sale and was most often accompanied by her good friend, Alice Brewer. She loved to spoil her grandchildren Jon and Aaron. She made sure her grand dogs and the neighbors pets had treats, and the birds outside had bread.

As her health declined these last few years and her family members passed she never once complained about any of it, instead focusing on the people and things around her she had left. Her one regret was never making it to California to see her sister before her death.

She was predeceased by her mother on February 15, 1975; her father on February 5, 1984. Her husband, Fred passed away on July 8, 2007. Her younger sister, Sandra Marlene Schenk passed away on October 28, 2015 in California and her older brother, Charles Robert Tyler on December 28, 2015 in South Bend.

She is survived by her son Rich, his wife Julie and their sons Aaron and Jon; her brother-in-law, Richard Dudkowski of Buchanan MI and his son Darren of Hammond IN. Also surviving are nephews, Mike Schenk of Salinas CA, Rick and Kellie Schenk of Arkansas; her sister-in-law, Betty Tyler of South Bend; a niece, Amie Greenboam and her husband John of South Bend; Aunt Joyce and Uncle Jim Jones of Arizona; and Aunt Beverly Squint of Ohio; along with a plethora of nieces and nephews on the Squint family side. Mom, knowing you are now at peace only slightly lessens the hurt of missing you. We will love you forever.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN. Chaplain Neal Davis will officiate. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy to Nancy’s family may be offered to Pet Refuge, 2606 Grape Rd., Mishawaka, IN 46545.
