Nancy L. (Rogers) Anthony, a sassy 78 years young, died suddenly on Tuesday, January 03, 2012 at her home in Naugatuck. She was the widow of James M. Anthony, Sr.

Nancy was born on April 18, 1933 in South Bend, IN the only child of Lyle Voss Rogers and Hazel Iola (Getchell) Rogers. She was a graduate of the South Bend school system and attended the Nursing program at Ball State University, Muncie, IN prior to her marriage in 1952.

An avid and rabid knitter, Nancy even taught knitting for many years. In 1969, she and her husband relocated to Naugatuck. After getting her children raised and finally off on their own, she became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Both she and her daughter completed the nursing program together at Naugatuck Valley Community Technical College graduating in 1991 with honors. Nancy worked many years as a Registered Nurse at Waterbury Hospital primarily on Pomeroy 5 before retiring. Her greatest love was her family and her Maine Coon cats.

She leaves her daughter, Marilyn J. Anthony, RN, BSN; two sons, James M. "Jay" Anthony, Jr. and Paul L. Anthony, RN, BSN (d. 11/25/2012); four granddaughters, Maj. Michaela L. Anthony, U.S. Army, Margaret R. Anthony, Cailin Corbett Lafontaine and Kathryn M. Anthony, RN, BSN.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 16 Church St., Waterbury. Burial was next to her husband in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck.
