SOUTH BEND - On Friday, April 19th, God sent one of his angels to carry Ollie Mae Scott, 79, to her heavenly resting place.

Ms. Scott was born August 17, 1933, in Richmond, IN, to the late Marie Elizabeth (Ewing) and Oliver James Scott Sr., and had lived in South Bend for 72 years, coming from Richmond.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald E. Herron and Mark R. Herron, both of South Bend; a step-daughter, Frances Hubbard-Smith (Craig) of St. Charles, MO; five grandchildren, Richard N. Hubbard Jr., Allison (Scott) LaBadie, Andrea Herron, Arica Herron and Maggie Herron; five great-grandchildren, Tyshawn, Shareese, Noel Jr., Jordan and A'tyra; two sisters, Maxine V. Price of South Bend and Marilouise (Albert) Hill of Pinkerton, OH; one sister-in-law, Laura Scott; and a brother-in-law, George O. "Jack" Woolridge Jr. of South Bend; nieces, nephews, special friends, other family members, and an "adopted daughter," Bryn Tiedge. She was preceded in death by her parents; a stepson, David Herron; two sisters, Geraldine Coker and Christine M. Woolridge; three brothers, Oliver Scott Jr., James D. Scott, Richard E. Scott; brother-in-law; Hughgene Price; and sister-in-law, Genevieve Scott.

Ollie retired from the office of Dr. Bart Saucelo after 12 years and also as a surgical nurse from St. Joseph Regional Medical Center after 17 years. She was a graduate of John Adams High School, a 55-year resident of the northeast side, and was very active in community service. She impacted the lives of many youth as a life mentor and friend. Her favorite activities were making crafts, gardening and baking. She was a member of the Northeast Neighborhood Center, Robinson Community Learning Center Senior Book Club, and the Martin Luther King Center Senior Women Crafts. She faithfully attended Greater St. John bible study and was a member of Olivet A.M.E. Church where she sang in the Senior Choir, a member of the Flower Guild, and Willing Workers. In her earlier years, Ollie was a member of the H.T. Burleigh Music Association and an avid bowler.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 4220 Edison Lakes Parkway, Suite #200, Mishawaka, IN, 46545; or the Robinson Community Learning Center, (for Adult Programming), 921 N. Eddy St., South Bend, IN 46617.
