Georgiana June McFarland

Georgiana J. McFarland, 67, of Greenacre Road, South Bend, Ind., died at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, in Memorial Hospital.

She was born on February 22, 1932, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. McFarland retired in 1994 from Ameritech after 29 years of service.

On March 17, 1950, in South Bend, as Georgiana Steiner, she married Jerrold McFarland, who survives.

She is also survived by a daughter, Merry (Walter) Bridgewater of South Bend; four sons, Michael (Linda) McFarland of South Bend, Patrick (Susan) McFarland of Niles, Michigan, Jerrold Scott (Carolyn) McFarland and Mark McFarland also of South Bend; nine grandchildren, Andrew McFarland of Birmingham, Alabama, Patrick McFarland of Levant, Maine, Joseph McFarland of Niles, Michigan, Michele (Nick) Polizzotto, Holly Bridgewater, Jamie Bridgewater, Daniel Campbell, Craig McFarland and Duane McFarland, all of South Bend; one great grandson, Joseph Polizzotto of South Bend; one sister, Mary Jane Grodzicki of South Bend; and by one brother, Charles Heritz of South Bend.

Mrs. McFarland was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home with burial to follow in Riverview Cemetery.
