LOU ALICE JORDAN DARKUS

Lou Alice Jordan Darkus, age 81, of Wilmington, and formerly of Raleigh, died Friday, July 20, 2007, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

She was born October 18, 1925, in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of the late George R. and Vida Kebert Jordan. She was also predeceased by her husband of forty-five years, Clarence "Chuck" Eugene Darkus Jr. in 1991 and her brother, George Robert Jordan.

Mrs. Darkus attended Indiana University and was a fashion model for Marshall Fields in Chicago, IL, and Maas Brothers in Tampa, FL. In past years Lou was active in school and community affairs; volunteering her services with the Red Cross, the hospital and in John's school. She and Chuck moved to Raleigh in the seventies where she was a former member of the Junior League and Woman's Club of Raleigh. Lou enjoyed ballroom dancing and excelled at the game of bridge. Lou loved life and lived it to the fullest as long as her health permitted.

Surviving are her son, Dr. John F. Darkus and his wife, Ronda Denning Darkus of Wilmington; a niece; and a nephew.

Graveside funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Riverview Memorial Park with The Rev. Dr. Frank Hawkins officiating.
