Edith Lacosse (Gardner) - Class Of 1943 VIEW PROFILE

Edith Lacosse (Gardner)

Edith Marie Gardner
Oct. 18, 1925 - March 10, 2021
SOUTH BEND, IN -

Edith Marie Gardner, 95, was called home by the Lord at 12:10am on Wednesday, March 10, 2021. She passed away peacefully in her sleep in Signature Healthcare.

Edith was born on October 18, 1925 in Kentland, Indiana to the late Lewis and Lillian (Dickson) LaCosse. On August 19, 1946, Edith married Eugene Gardner and he passed away on March 27, 2008. Edith was also preceded in death by sons, Lewis and Jon; sister, Barbara (Don) Brunette; and nephew, Donnie.

Edith is survived by her son, Chris (Shirley) Gardner; daughters-in-law, Laura Gardner, Maria Gardner, and Beth Gardner; step-granddaughter, Brenda; grandchildren, Daniel, Ian, Jason, Joe, Andy, Sam, Ben, and Riley; great-grandchild, Elium; step-great-grandchild, Mason; sister, JoAnn (Don) Huddleston; brothers, Lewis (Barbara) LaCosse and Gilbert (Gerry) LaCosse; nieces and nephews, Jim, Joe, Barbie, Robert, Charlie, Amy, Beth, Jenny, Stephen, Mark, and Jody.

Edith walked this Earth always showing Love, Kindness and Forgiveness. She and future husband Eugene graduated from John Adams High School in 1941. In her early years, she was a doctor's receptionist for Doctors Kanode, Savory, and James Hall, Sr. to mention a few. Later she was an Avon Sales Representative and she received Top Sales Awards. She retired after 22 years of service with Northwestern Mutual Life. Because of her giving nature she was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and Little League concession worker. She was such a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she almost lost her own identity, but her careers reassured her self-worth. Edith will be dearly missed by all who knew her; however, by the Lord's Grace and Atonement, we will ALL be reunited someday!

Graveside Services will be at 1pm on Friday, March 19, 2021 at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Palmer Funeral Home - Guisinger Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Condolences can be made at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
