Edna Louise Love was born on 3 March 1925. She was the 5th and final child born to Eleanora Barbara (Stopper) and Loyd Clement Love. Edna was born in her parents home at 2625 Pleasant Street, South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana.

Edna grew up in the River Park neighborhood of So. Bend. She attended John F. Nuner Grade School and Junior High and John Adams High School.

Ever since Edna was a child, her dream was to become a nurse. In August of 1943 her application to nursing school was accepted and she was on her way to fulfilling her dream. However, her family could not afford her tuition, so Edna enrolled in a U.S. Armed Forces program called the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. She received full tuition, plus room and board from the government. In return, after graduation, she had to agree to work at a military or Federal facility for the duration of the war. Edna was one of 55 girls who joined the Cadet Nurse Corps. at the St. Joseph Hospital Nursing School in Mishawaka, Ind. She graduated from there on 15 August 1946 and began her nursing career that spanned over 40 years.

On 15 May 1948 Edna married Kenneth Lyle Taylor In Mishawaka, Ind. After their marriage the couple settled in So. Bend, Ind. Here they had 4 children; Barbara Ellen, Robert Kenneth, Kimberley Dawn & Douglas Brian. Tragically, Robert & Kimberley were killed in an accident on 31 Oct. 1969. Robert was 8 and Kimberley was 3.

Edna died on 8 March 1993 when she lost her battle with cancer. She was 68 years old.
