Raymond Frank Mahler, 94 passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019 after a short illness. Ray was married to Betty for 75 years. He was also a World War II veteran who fought in the South Pacific. While serving on the Tinian Island, he was part of the security detail for the B-29 “Enola Gay” as it prepared for its historic mission to drop the first atomic bomb.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; Half-siblings, Jim Mahler (Carol), Ann Marie Dunn and Jane Copeland (Bob); Sons, Steve (Linda) and Tim (Hannah); Grandchildren, Jeff (Leslie), Troy (Erin), Chris (Laci), Caleb (Lacey) and Mary Rae; Great-grandchildren, Amber, Ryler, Melanie, Landon, Rhett, Rogan, and Valerie.

 
Ray was an electrician for 30 years with the South Bend City Schools in Indiana. He loved flying radio control planes, fixing anything and his family. He successfully completed his life’s mission, “Take care of my family.”

Interment will be at The Tallahassee National Cemetery on Friday, July 5, 2019 at 11:00 am. Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
