Albert E. Tovey

Albert E. Tovey Jr., 50 of 1121 E. LaSalle, died at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Cardinal Nursing Home after an extended illness.

Tovey was a theater manager of the Balaban and Katz Theaters, the State Palace and Granada, from 1940 to 1959. In 1959, when the Palace Theater became the Morris Civic Auditorium, he served as manager for 10 years.

Born Sept. 25, 1925, in South Bend, he lived here his lifetime. On Feb. 28, 1947, in LaPorte, he married Helen F. Schosker, who survives. Also surviving are four sons, Albert E. lll of South Bend, and John S. at home, Gary S. of Biloxi, Miss., and James P. of San Diego, Calif.; two grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Mary Olive McGann of South Bend.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the McGann Funeral Home, Rev. Haven Kelly, pastor of the Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the McGann Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
