GOSHEN, IN. — Dorothy Jean Vawter Beck, 94, of Goshen, died Thursday, June 20, 2019, at Greenleaf Health Campus. She was born Dec. 12, 1924, in Grass Creek (Fulton County), daughter of May and Irvin Vawter.

She was married for a time to Dwight Dale Beck and they had three children, Linda (John) Petalas, Jan (Dick) Keen and Larry (Nea) Beck. She has 17 grandchildren, Becky Batalis, Rob Remley, J.C. Remley, Jon Beck, Larry Lee Beck, Holly Obrien, Ryan Beck, Kyle Beck, Michell DuPont, Rich Keen and their spouses. She has a surviving sister, Norma Pierszchala of Virginia. She has 14 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and remains close to her extended family of aunts, nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to her parents are a sister Eileen Roberts; a daughter, Jan Keen; a grandson, Steve Beck; and nephews Paul and Tom Roberts.

Her family moved to the South Bend/Mishawaka area in 1925 where she lived until 1976 when she moved to Edwardsburg, Michigan, in order to take a job with the Cass County Road Commission in Cassopolis.

She chose to donate her body to the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Friends and family were received at a celebration of life memorial service which was July 28, 2019 at New Song Community Church following the Sunday morning church service at noon with a luncheon served for those who attended. Her pastor, Paul Freet was in charge of the service. Ichell DuPont and Alora Coss sang a medley of her favorite songs.
