SOUTH BEND - Marjorie Ann Barnbrook, 83, of South Bend, died at 1:35 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2010, in Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Barnbrook was born March 19, 1927, in Gary, IN, to the late Faye (Holmes) and John V. Kirkendorfer, and had lived in South Bend since 1950, coming from Gary.

On September 7, 1946, in Gary, as Marjorie A. Kirkendorfer, she married Donald E. Barnbrook, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Marcia L. (John) Farron of Granger, IN; two sons, James A. (Kim) Barnbrook and Timm D. (Cynthia) Barnbrook, both of South Bend; seven grandchildren, Jill (Matt) Wander, Douglas, Ryan and Reed Barnbrook, Steven (Katie) and Matthew Rudolph, and Kristina Farron; and two sisters, Joan (Maynard) Krueger of Valparaiso, IN, and Mona (Milo) Schultz of Fish Lake, IN. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn A. Barnbrook.

Marjorie was an avid bridge player and was a member of the Newcomers Club as well as several other bridge groups. She was a member of the School Men's Wives Club where she served as a past president. She served as a volunteer for Indiana Legal Services and received an award in honor of her outstanding service. She also volunteered with the Council for Retarded Children, United Way and Crisis Hotline. She was also a longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church. Even with her involvement in all of these agencies her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren and following all of their activities. For the past 25 years she attended as many of their games and other activities four or five times every week

. Memorial services will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 3012 S. Twykenham Drive, at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 22nd, with Rev. Lauren Hall officiating. Cremation will take place, with entombment to follow at a later date at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 21st, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St.
