BARBARA "BABS" AMSBAUGH

Babs was born August 31, 1926 to Edward P. Kreimer and Marjorie M. Kreimer in South Bend, Indiana.
She graduated from John Adams High School, Class or '44 and was the Editor of the 1944 Year Book. She attended Milwaukee-Downer College for one year on a full Scholarship and one year at St. Mary's College, Notre Dame Indiana. Babs met Don Amsbaugh in 1943 while he was attending the University of Notre Dame as a Navy V-12 student.
They were married after the War on June 27, 1946.and moved to San Francisco where Don attended San Francisco City College and graduated from U.C. Berkeley. They moved to Hayward (Lorenzo Manor) in 1951 and then to Fremont in 1959. She was the Office Manager of Fremont Medical Laboratory, owned by she and her husband until they sold it and retired in 1985.
They had three children, Donald Scott Amsbaugh, Linda Noel Nephew , and Jonathan Amsbaugh; seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Babs was an active volunteer in the early days of the City of Fremont working on Bond campaigns for Central Park, the Library, Washington Hospital, Ohlone College, various Council Candidates, Washington Hospital Foundation and the Ohlone College Foundation. She was a member of the Niles Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. She was the recipient of the first Rotary Ann of the Year Award (1979) and Niles President's Award (1989-1990). She and her husband were honored as Fremont Citizens of the Year 2004 by the Ohlone College Foundation.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service Friday, August 10, 2007 held at Washington Hospital West Auditorium.
