SOUTH BEND - Lois B. Willson, 84, of South Bend passed away at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 15 in the Sterling House of South Bend after an extended illness. Mrs. Wilson was born on July 27, 1926, in South Bend and resided in the area her lifetime.
On November 24, 1965 in South Bend as Lois B. Payton, she married Ernest W. Willson who preceded her in death on August 20, 2006. She is survived by a daughter, Sharon R. (Dan) Helms of Niles, MI. Also four stepdaughters, Darlene Sue Drebert of Seattle, WA, Yvonne K. (Dale) Bryant of Benton Harbor, MI, Sharon Joy Wilson of Anderson, IN, and Martha Ann Bell of Nashville, TN; a son, Daryl W. (Karen) Sarber of Florida. She was preceded in death by her loving husband and two sons, Craig S. Sarber in 1986 and Kevin P. Sarber in 1988.
Lois retired in 1986 from the Bendix Corporation after 30 years of service. She was a wonderful loving wife, mother and grandmother to 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren whom she loved and cherished. When it's time to travel there, I think I'll wear a smile, I'll say good-bye to those I love, But only for a while, Knowing there are others Who have traveled there alone, Who cannot wait to greet me And to whisper "Welcome Home."
Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 19 in Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday December 20 in the funeral home with Pastor Ervin Mize officiating.
Burial to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in south Bend. The family would like to have all memorial contributions made to: the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" funeral Home handled arrangements and service and extend its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Willson family.
