Zephine (Simpson) Culp

Mrs. Zephine (Simpson) Culp, 73, passed away on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 17, 1999.

Zephine was born on Aug. 1, 1926, in South Bend, the daughter of E. Lyle and A. Belle (Eaton) Simpson, and had been a Kalamazoo, Mich., area resident since 1946.

She was employed by Western Michigan University for 22 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Lane Boulevard United Methodist Church, the Lucinda Hinsdale Stone Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution where she served as regent and state historian, the WMU Women's Association, and the Clan Maclean Association.

On April 6, 1946, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Culp, who preceded her in death on Aug. 6, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and by her brothers, Charles and Philip Simpson.

She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Culp of Kalamazoo; her son, John (Cecily) Culp of Kalamazoo; four grandchildren, Jake Rohr, Elizabeth Rohr, Kevin Culp and Keri Culp; a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Rohr; in-laws, Betty Simpson, Donald and Margaret Culp; and by several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday in the Langeland Family Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel, 622 Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, with Mr. Charles Carson officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mt. Ever-Rest Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
