Mrs. Fain was born in St. Anthony's Hospital, Michigan City, IN, on April 3, 1925, to the late Joseph Leo and Helen Gertrude (Kubath) Dant.
In May 1947 she married Richard H. Fain, who passed away August 16, 1970. Delores lost two children before her: Infant Maureen Michaela Fain in September 1957 and Michael Charles Fain in April 2006. Her brother, Joseph L. Dant (Irene), also predeceased her in 1999.

She attended Elston High School in Michigan City but when her family moved to South Bend she graduated from John Adams High School. After working in several law offices in Mishawaka and South Bend she gained employment at the University of Notre Dame from which she retired after 28 years service as secretary and administrative assistant in several different departments. After her retirement from full-time employment she continued to transcribe manuscripts for the Holy Cross priests and the Jacques Maritain Center in her office at home.

Delores is survived by two daughters, Kevin Kathleen (Douglas) Moore of Fishers, IN, and Cathleen Camille (Mark) Witucki of Granger; a son, Richard Joseph Fain of Fishers; seven grandchildren, Angela M. (Jeff) Cockey, Richard H. Fain II (Leslie), Joseph P. Jacobs, Riley C. Jacobs, Bailey K. Jacobs, David C. Witucki; and Daniel A. Witucki; and two great-granddaughters, Caitlin Noelle Cockey and Riley Claire Cockey.
Mrs. Fain kept a beautiful home, enjoyed planting flowers, working on the internet and playing cards, especially Euchre. She was a member and past president of the South Bend Chapter of Delta Theta Tau Sorority. She loved Notre Dame football, and was a devoted member of St. Pius X Parish in Granger.
