Doris Elizabeth Zeiger

June 20, 1927 - Jan. 18, 2006

ane, South Bend, passed away at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2006, in her home.

Doris worked in the personnel department at A.M. General for 34 years, retiring in 1983. She was born on June 20, 1927, in Union Township, St. Joseph County, to the late Rev. Charles and Martha E. (Schutz) Everett, and had lived in this area all of her life.

On July 17, 1945, in South Bend, she married Donald L. Zeiger, who died September 30, 1995. Her sister, Eunice E. Rice, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include three daughters, Delaine E. Mikolajczak, Jeannette R. (Tom "Dennis" Hemphill) Matthews and Cheryl C. (Patrick) McNerney, all of South Bend; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Also surviving is one sister, Naomi M. Everett of Goshen, Ind.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, in Gospel Center Church, 930 South 30th Street, South Bend, IN 46615. Rev. Philip Jerome will officiate.

Burial will follow at Bremen Cemetery, Bremen, IN.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home -- River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, and one hour prior to services in the church.

Doris was a member of Gospel Center Missionary Church, Fellowship of Christian Artists, Fellowship of Christian Magicians, Prime Timers Senior Group, Southern Gospel Music Assoc., John Adams Golden Girls and the Leighton Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gospel Center Children's Ministry.
