GRANGER - Robert Louis Hibiske, 89, residing in Granger, passed away peacefully at 10:40 pm Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in his home. He was born October 15, 1926 in Niles, MI to the late Joseph and Amelia (Fisher) Hibiske, and remained a lifelong area resident.

Bob graduated from John Adams High School. He then served his country honorably in the United States Navy during WW II and the Korean War on the battleship USS New Jersey. Following his discharge, Bob began working at NIPSCO and retired as a foreman after 39 years. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Mishawaka. The most important things in Bob's life were the Lord, his family and fishing.

On March 26, 1950 in Calvary Baptist Church, South Bend, Bob married the former Coral Dean Pendl, who survives. In addition to his loving wife of 66 years, he is survived by two sons, Greg (Karen) Hibiske of Belville, NC and Tim (Barbara) Hibiske of Hoagland, IN; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Bob will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, June 6, 2016 in the First Baptist Church of Mishawaka, 724 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Rev. Peter Jones will officiate. Military honors and burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may visit with the family from 5:00 - 8:00 pm Sunday, June 5, 2016 in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend as well as one hour prior to services on Monday in the church.

Memorial contributions may be donated to the First Baptist Church of Mishawaka or Center for Hospice Care, c/o Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Online condolences may be left for the Hibiske family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
