Welby Harrison Miller

Welby Harrison Miller, 78, was born July 19, 1927, in South Bend, Indiana, to Welby West Miller and Maude Harrison Miller.

He died on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, of an aneurysm after a brief bout with emphysema. He lived his entire life in South Bend.

On June 13, 1964, he married Audrey L. DeMan Schwind. He adopted her young son Kurt. Also surviving are his sister, Marilyn Doyle, two brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, four nieces and four nephews.

In the 60s and 70s he was the relocation officer for the South Bend Downtown Redevelopment Department. Before retirement he enjoyed a few years as a small business owner. Earlier in his career his love and knowledge of classical music and jazz led him to two interesting positions. He hosted a weekly classical music radio broadcast from WSBT. He also worked in the Notre Dame library as a music librarian. His son inherited his love of the beautiful sport of sailing.

A family memorial service will take place on Dec. 10, 2005, at 10:00 A.M. in the First Christian Church.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Lung Association, to the Salvation Army or to the First Christian Church.
