Thomas Edgar Bothast

SOUTH BEND - Thomas Edgar Bothast Jr., 66, of San Diego, formerly of South Bend, died about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday in Casa De Las Companas, San Diego, after an illness.
Mr. Bothast retired in 1992 from the San Diego Department of Public Health after 39 years of service. He was born March 7, 1928, in Winamac, and lived in South Bend until 1946.
On Aug. 31, 1949, in Seattle, he married Mary Ruth Keech. She survives with three daughters, Tomi Williams, Margaret Gosting, and Lori Wilson, all of San Diego; five grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Helvey of South Bend.
There will be no services or visitation. The body has been donated to University of California-San Diego Medical School. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity.
