GRANGER - Joan S. Horvath, 82, of Granger, IN, passed away at 3:33 a.m. Sunday, September 4, 2011, in Buchanan Meadows, Buchanan, MI. Joan was born on June 3, 1929, in South Bend, to Walter and Marie (Czosnowski) Goetz Sr.
She had been formerly employed as a secretary with Fadell Personnel Offices and Business Systems. On June 7, 1947, in South Bend, as Joan S. Goetz, she married Eugene J. Horvath, who preceded her in death in November 1981. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Walter and Marie Goetz; her sister, Betty Goetz; her brother, Walter Goetz, Jr.; and her fiancée, Robert Hoover. Survivors include her two daughters, Vicki (Larry) Gimson and Pam (Albert) Szoke, both of Granger, IN; three grandchildren, Kelly (Michael) Harten, Adam (Alissa) Danielson and Michael Szoke; and six great-grandchildren, Madeline, Parker, Caleb, Korbin, Ella and Landon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. today, September 7, 2011, in St. Pius X Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends called from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, where a parish Rosary was prayed at 4:00 p.m. Friends may also call from 11:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. today in St. Pius X Church. Joan was a member of St. Pius X Parish. She was a former CCD instructor at St. Pius X.
