Emily C. Diltz

CASSOPOLIS - Emily C. Diltz, 82, of Diamond Lake, Cassopolis, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2011 after an extended illness. She was a resident of the Cass County Medical Care Facility for the past five years.

Emily was born January 14, 1929 in South Bend, the daughter of the late Raymond and Helen (Langenbahn) Kronewitter. She grew up in South Bend where she graduated from John Adams High School. She was a graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington and was a member of Alpha Phi collegiate fraternity. Emily married James H. Diltz on April 15, 1953. They lived in South Bend until moving to Diamond Lake, Cassopolis in 1973. Emily was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Cassopolis. She looked forward to pontoon boat rides on the lake with her family. Emily enjoyed counted cross-stitch and made many gifts for friends over the years. She was loved very much and will truly be missed by her family and friends.

Emily's surviving family includes three children, Douglas (Jennifer) Diltz of Granger, David (Christine) Diltz of Granger and Donna (Denny) Oklak of Indianapolis; and nine grandchildren, Abbey and Andy Oklak, Zachary, Adam and Michael Diltz, and Jared, Amanda, Brandon and Andrea Diltz. Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, in 2006.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today (Saturday) at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, with Rev. Don Potts officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

Visitation is today (Saturday) from 9 - 10 a.m. in the church. Contributions in Emily's memory may be directed to the Cass County Medical Care Facility or to Alpha Phi Foundation. Assistance with memorials is available at the funeral home. Arrangements are in the care of Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, Mishawaka.
