Albert Eugene Vascil

Albert E. Vascil, 73 of Helper Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
Mr. Vascil was born on Jan. 12, 1928, in South Bend, as the son of the late Albert A. and Mary (Peters) Vascil. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael E. Vascil on Oct. 29, 1990.
On Aug. 28, 1948, in South Bend, he married the former Lois K. Callsen. Mr. Vascil is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lois; a daughter, Kathy (Robert II) Sweeney of South Bend; a son, Chris (Deborah) Vascil of New Carlisle, Ind., seven grandchildren, Jill, Macin and Elissa Sweeney, all of South Bend, Melissa and Miranda Vascil of New Carlisle, Michael Vascil of Bay City, Mich., and Shawn Chavez of Denver, Colo.; and by a brother, Gerald (Betty) Vascil of Granger, Ind.
Mr. Vascil was employed as an electrician for IBEW Local #153 for 50 years before retiring in 1986. He was a United States Navy veteran.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. today in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. Eighth Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, in the funeral home, with Rev. Donald Guertin, C.S.C. of Little Flower Catholic Church, South Bend, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Granger.
