Marilyn Ruth Simmerman

MISHAWAKA - Marilyn R. Simmerman, 86, of Mishawaka, died Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Eastlake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Elkhart. The South Bend native was born July 21, 1930, to Donald J. & Hilda (Seybold) Lovelace.

Marilyn retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield and enjoyed volunteer work and crochet, making afghans & baby clothes. She was also a fan of country music and particularly enjoyed Elvis Presley. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was also preceded in death by her sister, Janet Kilpatrick, and her brother, Chuck Lovelace. She is survived by her children, Sue Brach of Denver, CO, Gary (Katie) Peterson of Edwardsburg, Wendi (Johnnie) Shelton of Mishawaka and Jill (Gary) Kratzer of Osceola; her brother, James Lovelace of South Bend; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside committal services are scheduled for 1:00 Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Sumption Prairie Cemetery, 60995 Sumption Trail, South Bend. Arrangements through Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. The family's preferred memorial is St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105.
