DOROTHY A. (SMITH) WOODS

SOUTH BEND - Dorothy A. Woods, 82, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 26, 2012. Dorothy Ann Woods was born February 3, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan.

She was a graduate of John Adams High School, attended Tennessee State University and graduated from Indiana University with an Associate Degree in Education.

Dorothy retired from St. Joseph County Voter's registration and was also employed by Head Start. She was currently a member of Living Water Church of God in Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. William M. Smith and Zoie O. Smith.

Survivors left to cherish her memory include daughter Adonna L. Howell of Los Angeles, California, son Dennis P. Howell, Sr. of Seattle, Washington, daughter Francine L. Howell of San Diego, California, and son Nelson W. Howell of Los Angeles, California; six grandchildren: William Howell, Dennis Howell, Jr. (Lavern), Candace Barnes, Denesha Blanchett, Oshan Howell and Tatiana Hughes; and two great-grandchildren, Dennis P. Howell III and Aaron D. Howell.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Alford's Mortuary, with viewing occurring one hour prior to services. Interment following at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park on Monday at 9:00 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford's Mortuary, where messages of condolences may be emailed to Alfordsmortuary@att.net c/o: the Woods family.
