Norma Louise Tully (Beaty)

Norma Louise Beaty

Aug. 16, 1930 - June 10, 2009

SOUTH BEND - Norma L. (Tully) Beaty, 78, surrounded by her family, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at 7:07 p.m. Norma was born in Clinton, Illinois, to parents, Harold and Gladys (Sloan) Tully.

She married R. Richard "Dick" Beaty on November 14, 1948, and was a longtime resident of River Park in South Bend, Indiana, until her move to Tanglewood Trace, Mishawaka. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph "Dick" Beaty; her son, Dan Beaty; her parents, Harold and Gladys Tully; and by her sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Max Kennedy of Sterling Heights, MI. Memories of her will be cherished by her family: son, Dave (Mikki) Beaty of Mishawaka; daughter, Diane (Steve) Gerencser of Goshen; three grandchildren, David (Tamie) Beaty of South Bend, Kelly (Scott) Johnston of Mishawaka and Michelle Gerencser of Goshen; six great-grandchildren, Kara, Kyler, Sabrina and Jacqueline Beaty, Haley and Danielle Johnston; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Glenda (Chuck) Harrison of South Bend; sister-in-law, Kathy (Terry) Darr of Mishawaka; and her many nieces, nephews and friends.

Norma will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and friend who always put the needs of others before herself. She was always involved with her children through PTA, Indian Guides, Boy Scouts and Horse Club activities. She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, being outdoors in the sunshine, her many club affiliations and church activities, which included playing the piano and organ. Norma's unassuming ways and desire to help others formed a group of friends and admirers. She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone and her unconditional love made her a welcomed guest everywhere she went. The world will be sadder with her passing.

Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. A celebration of Norma's life will be held on Monday, June 15th, at 10 a.m. in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN.
