Mary Ann Haney

Niles - Mary Ann Haney, 90, residing in Niles, MI, passed away at 12:29 am Tuesday, November 9, 2021, in Woodland Terrace at Longmeadow, Niles, MI. She was born December 22, 1930, in South Bend to the late Darold C. and Marie A. (Lonergan) Swindeman and remained a lifelong area resident.

On February 23, 1952, in South Bend, Mary Ann married William "Bill" A. Haney, who preceded her in death on January 11, 2015. She was also preceded by two daughters, Maureen and Mary Beth Haney; three sons, Patrick, Paul and William Haney; one great grandchild, Westin; and one brother, Tom Swindeman. Mary Ann is survived by two daughters, Karen (David) VanDePutte of Columbus, IN, and Bridgett (Joe) Suddon of Niles, MI; six grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer) Weller, Melissa (Phillip Brantley) VanDePutte, Sara (Tony) Schulz, Shelby, Zachary and Hunter Suddon; and four great grandchildren, Peyton, Tyler, Gage and Emlyn; as well as one brother, Jack (Maralyn) Swindeman of Lawton, MI.

Mary Ann worked as an insurance claims adjustor for 30 years before retiring. In addition to being a devout Catholic, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and always looked forward to hosting Christmas and Easter holidays and baking cookies. She also enjoyed sewing and travelling throughout the United States and Canada.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, in St. Mark Catholic Church, 3 N. 19th Street, Niles, MI 49120. Graveside services and burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00–7:00pm Monday, November 15, 2021, in the Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, where a rosary will be recited at 6:00pm.
