Shirley Joan Beasecker (Brown) - Class Of 1947 VIEW PROFILE

Shirley Joan Beasecker (Brown)

Shirley Joan Brown

Mar. 1, 1929 - Oct. 12, 2004

Shirley J. Brown, 75, of River Shores Lane in Elkhart, Ind., passed away at home after a lengthy illness on Tuesday Oct. 12, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Mishawaka, Ind., on March 1, 1929, to Glenn and Margaret (Horning) Beasecker. She was a lifetime resident of Mishawaka, having moved to Elkhart only recently.

Shirley married Robert F. Brown in Mishawaka on March 31, 1951. She is survived by Robert; her daughters, Vickie (Dan) Sterzik of Granger, Ind., and Pamela (Ron) Duerksen of Elkhart; a son, Mark (Beth) Brown of Wolcottville, Ind.; four grandchildren, Alicia (Santiago) Flores, Ryan Brown, Matthew (Jessica) Duerksen and Juli (Dan) Hood; 10 great-grandchildren; and by her sister, Darlene (Bill) Whitten of Mishawaka.

Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents, and by a sister, Delores Donathen in 2004.

She was a number-one housewife, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family dearly, and always looked forward to the holidays when everyone was gathered together. Shirley's winters were spent in Florida with her husband of 53 years, but she would never miss being back home for Christmas. Shirley loved her time spent in Florida, playing dominoes, and her shopping trips with her daughters to Fort Wayne. She also treasured dining out with family and friends. She will be missed dearly; she was a wonderful, giving, non-selfish, caring person to her family and to all who knew her. We will miss you; we love you.

A special thanks to Stephanie and her staff at Elkhart County Hospice for all their help and kindness during this difficult time.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, with Pastor Jim Bayer officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Elkhart County Hospice.

If tears could build a stairway,

and memories a lane,

I'd walk right up to heaven

and bring you home again.
