JONESBORO - Kent C. "KC" Brown, 94, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born July 15, 1929, in South Bend, Ind., to Lester and Jesse Brown.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was a Knights of Columbus fourth-degree Knight. KC had spent 20 years in the United States Air Force as a navigator on C135s and B52s and retired as a major, ending his career at Blytheville AFB. He received numerous awards and decorations for his military career.

KC then went on to work for the Boy Scouts of America for 23 years as a district executive. KC received many awards and accolades for his work. KC formed friendships throughout NEA and loved that job, still to this day, people knew him for the friendships he developed from all walks of life.

KC went on to volunteer for the local Habitat for Humanity for many years and saw many families receive new homes. KC also loved to do woodworking and tried his best to build furniture for anyone who needed a piece. KC also loved to tell jokes (some over and over) and many people have stories about his joke-telling.

KC was preceded in death by his loving wife of 71 years, Betty Jane, one son, David, and one daughter, Chris.

KC is survived by two daughters, Stephanie (Larry) Riley of Colt and Laura Garner of Jonesboro; a son, Scott Brown and wife Terry of Jonesboro; nine grandkids; and 16 great-grandkids.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home, 300 W. Matthews Ave. in Jonesboro. Funeral services and Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Highland Drive in Jonesboro with the Rev. Alex Smith officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Steven Price, Jake Garner, David Skinner, Josh Brown, TL Davis and Ryan Hay.

Honorary pallbearers will include Noah Price, Isaiah Price, Maddox Brown, Khi Brown, Andrew Davis, Matthew Brown and Landon Kirkman.

Lasting memorials should be directed to one of KC's dedicated choices: Blessed Sacrament Church, The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas, the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, The American Red Cross or Boys Town.
