C. Frederick "Fred" Nieter of Warsaw, Indiana passed away at 11:10 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Paddock Springs Assisting Living in Warsaw, Indiana at the age of 94.

He was born on November 21, 1928, in South Bend, Indiana to Frances Claribel (Kilmer) Nieter and Cyril Frederick Nieter. Fred was a 1947 graduate of John Adams High School. On January 6, 1951, he married Dorothy Jane "Dot" Haenes. They were blessed with 60 years of marriage before Dot passed away on July 10, 2011.

Fred enlisted in the U.S. Army and was inducted on January 29, 1951, and was a proud Korean War Veteran. He was honorably discharged on January 7, 1953. In 1957 Fred graduated from Purdue University and earned his Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering and later his Master's Degree from I.U.S.B. (Indiana University South Bend) in 1973. He worked as an electrical engineer for Bendix Corp. in Mishawaka, Indiana for many years and the Pillsbury Company in New Albany, Indiana for 15 years, retiring in 1991.

Over the years, Fred and his family made their home in South Bend, Indiana, Niles, Michigan, Georgetown, Indiana and finally in Warsaw, Indiana. Fred was a member of the Warsaw Optimist Club, was a Kosciusko County Court Appointed Specialist Advocate (CASA), and a longtime member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church in Winona Lake, Indiana. He was an avid Warsaw sports fan, loved fishing, camping, golf and boat rides on Chapman Lake. Fred was one of a kind, had a great sense of humor and enjoyed meeting new people. He enjoyed a good story, especially if HE was the one telling it! Fred loved the Lord and served him faithfully, knowing he will share an eternity in Heaven with his loved ones. He cherished the time he spent with family, was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will forever be missed.

He leaves behind three sons, Gary (Bonnie) Nieter (Warsaw, IN); Randy (Cindy) Nieter (Chesapeake, VA); and Rod (Kim) Nieter (Memphis, IN). Also surviving are five grandsons, Aaron (Brooke) Nieter (Warsaw, IN); Jeremy Nieter (Warsaw, IN); Tad (Kara) Nieter (North Manchester, IN); Brent (Kim) Nieter (Chesapeake, VA); Gregory (Amanda) Nieter (Memphis, IN); two granddaughters, Lori (Dustin) McCollum (Chesapeake, VA); Morgan Nieter (Memphis, IN); and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and one sister, Jacqueline Rose Nieter.
